Child Protection Inter-agency Virtual Session (CPIA Level 3)

Introduction

NON TRADED SERVICES SCHOOLS - If you are a Non Traded Services School there will be a charge of £90 per person for this course and you will be invoiced accordingly

CPIA Safeguarding Level 3 DSL Training.

To achieve the required CPIA Level 3 standard - All three parts of the training requirements must be completed. 

BY SIGNING UP TO THE VIRTUAL TRAINING SESSION YOU ARE AGREEING TO COMPLETE ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE TRAINING COURSE INCLUDING THE PRE-READING AND THE POST COURSE EVALUATION

To attain the level 3 standard, participants will have to be present for the entirety of the virtual training (3 1/2 hours), complete the pre-reading and set tasks (3 1/2 hours) and continue with a minimum of 10 hours of CPD per annum.

All learners must have previously undertaken their own organisation's single agency basic Child Protection training prior to attending this course.

Learners can refresh their basic knowledge of Child Protection by completing the 'Safeguarding Children - Level 2' e-learning course. There are other themed e-learning courses available which learners can take advantage of.

Audience

Members of the workforce who work predominately with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns.

AND

Members of the workforce who are responsible for making safeguarding referrals to the Police and Children’s Social Care; and those who have particular responsibilities in relation to undertaking Section 47 enquiries;

e.g. pediatricians, GP's, youth workers, early years workers, midwives, school nurses, health visitors, teachers, private and voluntary sector workers, police, social workers.

Health Staff - this training meets the requirements of Level 3 training as outlined in the Intercollegiate Safeguarding Children and Young People roles and competencies for health care staff. 

Objectives

The purpose of this course is for participants to:- 

1.    Consider the wide range of issues that are covered in child abuse and neglect. (Examine the many ways in which children and young people can be harmed and abused and consider the wide range of issues associated with such incidents.)

2.    Understand the role of all agencies, including your own, to work together to safeguard children and young people.

3.    Develop an understanding of the local and national child protection process and legal framework.

4.    Consider the impact of personal and professional attitudes on effective investigating, assessing and decision making.

Content

To achieve the required CPIA Level 3 standard - All three parts of the training requirements must be completed. NB - We are currently updating the webinar 'Making a Referral and Submitting a Good MARF'.  This will be available to all delegates in due course.

Part 1:

Complete 3 1/2 hours of pre-reading and set tasks - available within the CPIA Handbook. If you find any links that don't work, please email gsce@gloucestershire.gov.uk with the information.

Part 2:

Attend on-line course (3 1/2 hours) led by experienced Child Protection trainer.

This is an opportunity to learn together with other local practitioners, ask questions and be tested on safeguarding knowledge and skills.

Part 3:

Continue with your professional development - CPD by attending further virtual training courses and viewing additional safeguarding resources i.e. webinars of local reviews, local assessment tools, policies and procedures.

CPD requirement - minimum 10 hours per year.
